10 Questions with Veronica Nunes Green

1. Introduction: What's your story?

Hi! I'm Veronica Nunes and I'm a makeup artist and licensed esthetician based in the greater Boston area. I've been passionate about beauty ever since I could remember. I grew up with extremely sensitive skin and, thanks to my mother who was religious about her morning and evening skin care routines, understood the importance of quality skin and makeup products. As a teenager, I dove into the world of beauty, admiring the glossy pages of Allure, Elle and Vogue, paying close attention to anything and everything that had to do with makeup and skincare.
During my undergraduate years in upstate New York, I was the go-to makeup artist for formals and events. Fortunately, by going to an all-women's college, I never had a shortage of faces or heads to practice on. I found that the communications and business skills acquired from my undergraduate studies would carry over when building my own business. From there, I shadowed and assisted numerous makeup artists in upstate New York, NYC and Boston and went out on my own in 2011.

Education is a priority and I continue to further my education by attending professional makeup and esthetic workshops and classes whenever I can. In May 2018, I graduated from the 600-hour Advanced Esthetics program from Catherine Hinds Institute of Esthetics. I am now a licensed esthetician in MA, CT and NH.

Great makeup starts with great skin and as both an esthetician and seasoned makeup artist, I am able to bring a 360-degree approach to anyone who sits in my chair. I want you to feel as good as you look and am excited to be a part of your journey!

2. What's your experience as a bridal hair & makeup artist? How many brides are in there in your portfolio?

With over 11 years of experience, I have encountered all skin types, tones and textures and am extremely comfortable with all aspects and styles of makeup application. Though my esthetic is more natural glam, I am able to achieve a "no makeup makeup" look or full on glam (with highlights, contours, lashes, glitter, etc). My overarching goal is to let my client's skin really come through and shine- bringing their inner confidence and beauty out! I've worked on well over 200 weddings and have traveled all over doing makeup- even as far as Chicago!

3. What are the different packages that you offer and which one is your most popular package?

I have packages for the curated bride-only to full on bridal party. Have a large party? We can certainly accommodate! All my brides receive individual lash application (included) and I offer strip and individual lash add-ons for all bridal party members. I also offer airbrush services and tattoo cover-ups. Don't forget about the grooms! Groom/groom party grooming and makeup is available as well!
Want to bullet-proof your look through the evening? I am able to provide additional touch-ups throughout the evening to make sure you are always camera ready!

4. Do you have a team of assistants or will you be the only artist that day? What will happen if you're sick or have an emergency on the wedding day?

Solo, I am able to accommodate up to 6 attendees. For additional attendees, I will bring a 2nd artist. Need to be ready early? Just let me know and we can certainly bring a 2nd artist to help speed up your timeline.
If god-forbid I am able to provide services due to an illness or emergency, I will do everything in my power to find a makeup artist of equivalent talent to replace me.

5. Do you charge a travel fee? For what distance? What does that cover?

First 30 minutes complimentary from N. Reading, MA. $50 for every additional 30 minutes will be charged per artist. Additional fees may apply if public events impacts travel time to and from location. Any location beyond 2 hours require overnight accomodations.

6. Can the bride book a wedding makeup trial appointment and will you also do a trial before the wedding?

Yes- we all want to try before we buy! I hold trials at my home studio on Thursday and Friday afternoons. Trials are $185. I also provide on-site trial appointments for $215 (travel fees may apply).

7. What beauty products do you use and would you be open to the bride using her own make-up?

I use professional-grade products within my kit designed for those with sensitive skin. I am not dedicated to one specific brand, however I do carry luxury brands including Dior, Shiseido. Professional brands in my kit include Senna Cosmetics, Danessa Myricks, Makeup Forever, Face Atelier, Ben Nye, Graftobian and Charlotte Tilbury.
Due to liability reasons, I do limit clients bringing their own makeup without prior consultation (however, I encourage all clients to use their own lip products for touch-ups throughout the evening).

8. How can you make the bride's wedding makeup last and look good in photos?

Skin prep skin prep skin prep! It's all about the skin prep and as a licensed esthetician, I specialize in knowing how to prep the skin to ensure longevity of your look! I also provide a touch-up kit for all my brides that include blotting papers, powdered puffs and will work with you to nail down your perfect lip color and obtain a full sized product.
