10 Questions with Ashley & Meagan

1. Introduction: What's your story?

Hey there! We're Ashley & Meagan, co-owners of Your Jubilee Weddings & Events. All the best ideas start out at happy hour right? We definitely agree because 6 years ago, we introduced Your Jubilee to the world! We were sorority sisters at NAU and instantly became friends. After years of working in corporate and nonprofit events, one night we went to happy hour. After a couple of drinks (a rum & coke and vodka tonic to be exact!), we decided to start an event planning company. With a background in logistics, design and combined planning experience of 10+ years, we knew we could figure out how to transition into social events and we were eager to start creating more personalized events for people.

We officially launched Your Jubilee in April 2014 after months of networking and connecting with local creatives. To build Your Jubilee, we really had to follow our guts, do a lot of research, and ask a lot of questions. While we were navigating through the Arizona wedding and events world, something that was very important to us was that our brand was an authentic reflection of us both. Staying true to the name Jubilee, which means a spirited celebration, one of our core values is to celebrate throughout the planning process with our couples, not just on the big day. We still firmly believe this and Your Jubilee’s motto is “Life Should Be Celebrated”.

2. What's your experience as a wedding planner? How many weddings have you planned?

We have coordinated over 185 weddings, 52 special events including 2 multi-day nonprofit cycling events and 28 styled shoots. So as a company that’s over 267 events.

It’s incredibly humbling to look back and see our team starting with two assistants and paying them with chipotle burritos to our amazing wedding pros we have now. We can’t wait to create more unique celebrations and celebrate our couple’s love!

3. What sorts of services do you offer (month-of coordination, full-service planning, or à la carte planning)?

We offer Full Planning, Partial Planning, and Month Of Coordination. As wedding planners, we believe in offering flexibility and options because every event is different.

4. How do payments work (a percentage of the wedding budget, a flat fee etc.)? What are the different packages that you offer and which one is your most popular package?

Our Full Planning Package is for the couple that isn’t sure where to start or maybe they just don’t have the time to devote to planning a wedding, Your Jubilee will develop a complete design for your wedding-from “yes” to “I do” and everything in between. We’ll guide you through the process and create a bespoke celebration that encompasses everything you are as a couple. Trust us, your event will be nothing short of spectacular!

Our Partial Planning Package is ideal for the couple that has a specific vision for their special day, but needs some help connecting the dots. Your Jubilee will be there throughout the entire planning process to connect you to excellent vendors and produce a one of a kind celebration. We call this wedding coaching!

Our Month of Coordination Package is for the couple that needs help with on site coordination. We work with you for more than just the day of the event because to truly execute a seamless event, we need to make sure we know all the details and have confirmed those details with your entire creative team.

5. Who else is in your team and how many people on your staff will be at the wedding?

We have 2 co-owners, 9 planners, 5 wedding day assistants, and currently 2 interns. On wedding days, we staff based on the guest count. There will always be a lead planner, that the couple has been working with to plan their wedding day. Along with the lead planner, there will be a lead assistant, and 2-3 Jubilette's to help make sure the wedding day goes seamlessly!

6. What happens if you're sick or otherwise unable to be there on the day of the wedding?

If the lead planner is sick or unable to be there on the day of the wedding, the lead assistant will take over. The lead assistant knows the wedding day timeline inside and out and is ready to take over if anything happens. We also have an assistant on standby for every wedding, in case another member of our team is unable to make it to the wedding day.

7. How many meetings will you have with the couple and how will they be involved?

With our Full Planning Package, we offer unlimited amount of meetings with the couple. With our Partial Planning Package, we have 5 meetings with the couple. Yes! We work with the vendor team to coordinate all deliveries, arrivals and setup times. We also supervise vendor arrivals and distribution of final payments and gratuities.

10. Can you create a timeline that tells everyone involved in the planning process (other pros, members of the wedding party, to-be-weds and families) what to do and when to do it? How will you make sure everyone sticks to the schedule?

Yes, timelines are our love language! We create complete wedding timelines and itineraries for vendors, bridal party and families. We create timelines that are specific to vendors, and then we have a full timeline as well. We have a timeline meeting with our team so we are extremely prepared going into the wedding day.
