10 Questions with Jay “DJ Elite” Hague

1. Introduction: What's your story?

Elite Event Services owner, Jay "DJ Elite" Hague strives to provide nothing less than exceptional DJ, Emcee, Sound and lighting services in the Phoenix, Scottsdale and Surrounding areas. I have been providing quality wedding services since 2001. In addition to a full time DJ, I am also a Fire Department EMT here in Arizona. I enjoy serving my community in a role as an Arizona first responder. Some of my biggest accomplishments as a DJ has been providing services for FOUR Super Bowls for the NFL, nearly 100 events for Disney, dozens of events for Pepsi, Official DJ for Fiesta Bowl the last 7 years, and of course, being a part of nearly 1000 weddings!
I have been voted as “Best of our valley” by Arizona Foothills Magazine in 2023. Brides Magazine named me as their "Brides Choice" award winner. I have also won the Readers Choice Award and Best DJ of Phoenix award from Phoenix New Times Magazine. DJ Times Magazine, the largest magazine dedicated to the DJ industry, featured DJ Elite for being at the top of the Phoenix wedding DJ scene. DJ Elite and Elite Event Services has been showcased in numerous other magazine, online media publications and in the news.

2. What's your experience as a wedding DJ? How many weddings have you done?

Close to 1000 weddings. Over 1000 corporate events, including 4 Super Bowls for the NFL.... Phoenix, San Francisco, Houston, back to Phoenix and will be doing a 5th in Las Vegas for 2024.

3. How far in advance do couples need to book your services?

Most couples book their wedding DJ services 8-12 months in advance, however we will take last minute weddings if we have the date available.

4. What's your rate? What does that include?

Our wedding packages average $1500. This includes ceremony, cocktail hour and reception services, along with all high quality equipment, pre wedding consultations, custom music selections, timeline creation, etc.

5. Are you available to travel if needed?

We do travel. While most of our weddings and events are in Arizona, we have traveled to numerous different states, and even to the Bahamas, Mexico and the Caribbean.

6. How would you describe your style?

I would describe my style as being very detail oriented. I focus on high quality luxury wedding services. I don't do cookie cutter weddings, I tend to cater to the couples who want someone who will completely cater to their every need when it comes to their DJ and MC service.

7. What's your backup plan if there's an equipment malfunction? Do you bring backup equipment?

I ALWAYS show up to events with back up equipment for everything essential to run an event....from speakers, to cable, to mics....I always have redundancies in place.

8. What's your sick day policy?

My wife is also a DJ and we never book 2 weddings on the same day, if something was to happen I always have a contingency plan. Additionally, I have a large list of wedding DJs I could call of there was a true emergency and another DJ was needed to cover an event. In 22 years of business, I have never missed a wedding I was scheduled to be at.

9. How do you motivate a shy crowd to dance? What do you do to motivate the crowd if nobody is dancing?

Any good DJ will have some tricks up their sleeves and songs that will get even the most shy person out of their seat. Part of being a good DJ is to read your crowd and quickly figure out what works and what doesn't work for your given crowd. I am an expert at reading crowds and controlling the flow of a wedding reception.

10. What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?

Deposits are non refundable (in most cases) and final balance is due 30 days before your wedding date. Once we are 30 days out, we have a no cancelation policy as at this point we have no chance of rebooking that date.
