10 Question with Olivia Villa

1. Introduction: What's your story?

Hi I’m Olivia Villa, owner and makeup artist of LivBeautified, LLC. Born and raised in the Bay Area, California. My love for makeup started at 5 years old playing in my mom’s makeup bag without permission. I even recall getting friends ready in high school for prom or any special occasion. I’ve experienced a number of career industries to find myself and even led me to Texas, but my true passion was always makeup. Looking back, I wonder what took me so long. I was fortunate to be trusted by friends and family to get them ready for their events. This continued trust by my loved ones is what eventually built my confidence and ignited the fire in me to nurture this as my career and passion. This snowballed to establishing Liv Beautified LLC , 2016.

Over the years, my initial focus on weddings and special occasions expanded to professional portraits and commercial photo shoots for advertising, editorial clients, fashion shows and so much more. My self-education is never ending and I take online courses and attend seminars to keep up with trends etc. I meticulously collaborate with my clients to interpreting their vision and bringing their vision to life. Its an honor and joy making women feel beautiful and empowered. I always go the extra mile to make the best possible experience!

2. What's your experience as a bridal hair & makeup artist? How many brides are in there in your portfolio?

I love my Brides! My experience working in the Bridal makeup started in the early 2000s. I've had the honor to work with the most diverse Brides and clientele. I have worked well over 250 Brides and built my portfolio from satisfied customers and only word of mouth referrals. With a particular passion for bridal beauty, I have 5 star ratings on Wedding Wire and The Knot and several other industry review sites. My work can be seen on San Antonio Weddings Magazine, The Knot and Wedding Wire and several other noted photography and wedding blogs and websites. I have been fortunate to win San Antonio Fashion Awards and Texas Fashion Awards makeup artist of the year in 2018 and 2021. As a constant student of my craft, I continue my education by attending workshops and seminars nationally. I pride myself on having a great attention to detail, and the ability to make each bride look and feel her best.

3. What are the different packages that you offer and which one is your most popular package?

My Luxe Package is my most popular package. It includes the Trial and Wedding day.

I offer a list of multiple services, such as makeup for engagement photos, trial runs for the mother of the bride, and jr. bride's maids, male grooming, tattoo cover up and more.

4. Do you have a team of assistants or will you be the only artist that day? What will happen if you're sick or have an emergency on the wedding day?

I have a team of skilled professional makeup artists. Each one comes with over 7 years of experience, and they each have assisted me with makeup for many years. If I have a party of more than six people, I bring an assistant. In case of an emergency, I have back up artists that can handle any situation.

5. Do you charge a travel fee? For what distance? What does that cover?

Yes, I do. A mileage fee will be charged. The amount will be determined at the time of inquiry. The client is responsible for all valet parking, parking fees, and toll fees. All cost for travel to a booked event are paid by the Client. Cost include airfare, hotel, transportation and parking. I don't work out of a salon and I am solely a mobile artist and travel to my Brides. I will come to you at the venue of your choice ensuring the morning of your wedding is relaxed, stress-free and fun!

6. Can the bride book a wedding makeup trial appointment and will you also do a trial before the wedding?

Yes, a makeup trial is recommended. Usually, no later than 6 months prior. During our session, we will discuss her style and vision for look. Some brides like full glam and others are comfortable with a natural look. The trial run is where you get to know what is important on her big day and test out the makeup.

7. What beauty products do you use and would you be open to the bride using her own make-up?

I use various products. Temptu, Kett, Kryolan, Nars, Natasha Denona and Viesart are a few cosmetics I use. I only use airbrush makeup since it is the most sanitary. I use wispy lashes and individual lashes for brides unless the bride requests fuller ones. I've had Brides bring their favorite lashes to use too. Also, I have worked with Brides that have lash extensions. I do not have a problem with the bride using her own makeup. I am very conscious of how I use my makeup, between clients, due to covid-19, I strictly use disposable applicators, loose powders so there is no cross-contamination.

8. How can you make the bride's wedding makeup last and look good in photos?

Airbrush makeup covers and lasts ALL DAY LONG! One application is all it takes to have a beautiful face for your wedding, prom, or any special occasion. It can be applied on anyone even men! It's also hypoallergenic & sanitary to use.

being the makeup is airbrushed, It’s water resistant which means it’s resistant to sweat (hello hot south) and tears (it is wedding after all).
Transfer resistant which means it won’t rub off on other people’s clothes when hugging.

It feels light yet can be full coverage. We can give you light sheer coverage, medium or full coverage based on how many “passes” we do during the application. If you like it light and natural, allowing your skin to show through, we may do just 1-2 passes. If you like a full coverage opaque look, we’ll do a few more. Everybody’s happy!

Custom colors! We custom blend EVERY SINGLE foundation color just for you and you party.

It’s a filler! The formula I use contains silicone which helps to fill in lines, pores and imperfections. I carry a wide range of airbrush foundation formulas.

All Day Wear. We guarantee 10 hours, but our clients say it lasts longer. I've had clients sleep (I don't suggest) with their makeup on and wake up with it still on.

Looks flawless in photos! The spray dot-pattern of the airbrush blurs the appearance of the skin, resulting in a flawless face on camera.

9. How long will makeup take on the day and how long will you be staying for on the day?

In my experience I usually take an hour for the bride, and 40 minutes for each person in the group. I stay to make sure everyone is beautifully done especially the bride! There is an additional cost if the bride is wanting touch ups.

10. What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?

I require a 50% deposit. If the client must cancel the booked event or any services on a contract, the retainer will NOT be refunded or transferred to another bridal party/service. Services may be canceled no later than 60 days before the scheduled service date, in which case the remaining contract balance is due and payable immediately.
