1. Introduction: What's your story?

From celebrity clients such as Ferrari, The Dr Phil Show and David Letterman, creative firms across the country, corporate and commercial work, brides, boudior shoots and high school seniors, every client is important to make-up artist, Abby Prather.

"My favorite part of being a make-up artist, is learning that people are people. Whether it's celebrity clients, or a young model at their first gig, an accountant updating a headshot or a young mother going through chemo, everyone has a story, and everyone is beautiful. I never know who will be in my chair, but I have the privilege of sharing an intimate space with people creating a connection. I get to listen to their story. I get to share in their journey. I get to make them feel beautiful." - Abby

Abby's background may surprise you. She attended Purdue University and graduated with honors in Animal Science, Biology and Chemistry before attending cosmetology school and earning her aesthetics license.

"I was planning on going to vet school to be a veterinarian. My own battle with cancer put those plans on hold. My surgeon introduced me to his aesthetician. I had never even heard of aesthetics, but it became something very positive for me during a scary time. The science behind skin and the chemistry of the ingredients in medical grade products really intrigued me. I LOVE product! I decided to get my aesthetics license with the intent of doing medical aesthetics. But, when I was in school, I found myself collecting tears from magazines and re-creating these looks on my peers. I became, "the make-up girl." Make-up was beautiful and creative and messy and I LOVED it! I started studying artists like Kevyn Aucoin and Val Garland and just could not get enough. I ended up getting a job with MAC Cosmetics and was so privileged to get to travel around the country and learn and be inspired by their senior artist and training teams. After a few years, my free-lance work was busy enough to go out on my own."
