10 Questions with Chris Truitt

1. Introduction: What's your story?

Hi I'm Chris Truitt, owner and videographer of Reminisce Films. I've been filming weddings for 7 years and loving every minute of it. This started as a side hustle to make a little money after college but after seeing how fun and special weddings were I knew I never wanted to do anything else. Being able to capture one of the biggest days in peoples lives is truly rewarding, and I love being able to provide them with a film they can watch for years to come.

2. How long have you been filming weddings? How many weddings have you filmed?

I have been filming weddings since 2014. I have filmed close 100 weddings!

3. How would you describe your videography style?

Timeless, cinematic, and realistic. Your wedding day is already special, my goal is to capture it as it happens. I love to edit in a more documentary style that focuses on your wedding rather than trying to show off with crazy zooming or effect heavy editing.

4. How well in advance should couples book their wedding videographer?

I have had couples book between 1-2 years in advance or even 2 weeks before their wedding. Just know the sooner you book wedding videography the more likely you will get the videographer you want.

5. What are the different packages that you offer and which one is your most popular package?

I offer 4 packages that grow in offerings. All of my packages include a short film and ceremony film. As the packages go up they include a longer film, couple interviews, second videographer or an archival doc edit. I also offer add-ons that help you create the perfect package.

6. Are you the wedding videographer who will be filming on the wedding day? How many camera people and cameras will be operating on the day?

I am the main videographer but I offer a second videographer as an add-on option. I have been filming weddings solo for 7 years and I feel I have achieved a pretty good rhythm and knowledge of how to film a wedding.

7. Do you charge a travel fee? For what distance? What does that cover?

I charge for travel outside of an 100 mile radius. I only charge what the IRS recommends for mileage. This covers gas and wear and tear on my vehicle. If your wedding is a destination wedding a custom travel fee would be required.

8. How do you back-up your footage to ensure no footage is lost and for how long do you keep the footage after the wedding?

I am currently keeping everything I shoot at a wedding for as long as possible. I back up everything on hard drives that are backed up in the cloud. So even if my physical hard drive fails, there will be a backup on a remote server. I also offer Raw Footage as an add-on, which gives you everything I shot at your wedding on a hard drive.

9. How long after the wedding will the couple receive the video? And how will the video be delivered?

In my contract I state your film will be delivered up to 3 months after your wedding. Depending on my work load I may be able to get it to you sooner. Currently wedding films are delivered through Google Drive, but I am exploring a more catered service to deliver films.

10. What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?

I always recommend rescheduling before cancellation but in the event cancellation is necessary all money will be refunded besides the non-refundable deposit. I structure my payments in 6 month increments to avoid a large sum being due back in the event it needs to be refunded.
