10 Questions with Sean Carr

1. Introduction: What's your story?

Hey there, Sean here! Lets see. Long story short here we go!

I grew up in upstate NY in a beautiful area of the country. My house was haunted, I'm a Buffalo Bills fan and a big fan of cowboy hats, Caffeine and anything Bigfoot related. I moved to North Carolina to attend film school. After graduation I worked in lighting on film sets like Iron Man among other various films. One day after a long day of work one of my friends told me I should photograph weddings. To be honest I didn't even know that was a profession at the time. One terrible craiglist ad and a decade later here I am.

I recently moved to Portland. I had one full year of weddings under my belt in the PNW before the pandemic hit. I'm super grateful to my couples for allowing me to create amazing memories with them.

Big fan of elopements and intimate weddings.

2. How long have you been shooting weddings? How many weddings have you photographed?

I've been a wedding photographer for over 10 years. Previously my business was focused around shooting beach weddings in North Carolina. Now I focus on elopements in the PNW because it's too damn beautiful out here to get married in a hotel. This is essentially my second year in Portland because of the pandemic and I'm super stoked to get creating again with my couples.

3. How would you describe your photography style?

My style is like my personality, laid back, natural and authentic. I want the natural beauty to be highlighted in your photos and to bring out the comfort and ease you and your partner have when you're together. Sometimes that means just bringing a whiskey or a beer along for a shoot. Other times it's just about getting to know people ahead of time. Many of my couples become lifelong friends and I prefer to work with people who are on my same wavelength. There's a photographer for everyone out there so make sure your vibes align.

When it comes to style alone I prefer natural and warm tones. I don't want you to look orange. In 20 years I want those photos to feel classic and beautiful.

4. How well in advance should couples book their wedding photographer?

Depends honestly. Sometimes I'm booked over a year out for certain Saturday's. With elopements I often have availability during the week so if you're flexible so I am I.

5. What are the different packages that you offer and which one is your most popular package?

They change year to year. I raise my prices every May and am slowly focusing on serving less couples but giving them more attention. When it comes to elopements I often help plan so it's easier to do that when I don't have 50 weddings lined up.

Check out my current pricing/packages on my website.

6. Are you the wedding photographer who will be shooting on the wedding day? Who else is there in your team?

Yep. It's just me(and possibly my assistant). For most weddings it's just me but I always have the option of adding a second photographer if I feel like you'll want/need one.

7. Do you charge a travel fee? For what distance? What does that cover?

I do. Anything within an hour or so of Portland is covered. Outside of that I charge mileage and possibly hotel/airfaire..etc. But definitely ask me about it. Every situation is different.

8. Are albums or prints included in your packages?

Sure are! I love when people print and share their photos. Prints and albums are always changing as I try and provide the best cost/quality ratio. So just email me and I'm happy to walk you through pricing/options for prints/albums.

9. How long after the wedding will the couple receive the images? How will they be delivered?

2 weeks maximum. That's one thing I pride myself on is not making couples wait 3 months. Often times I'll have them delivered even earlier. I want you to be able to show them off when the wedding buzz is still around.

10. What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?

Email me and I can give you more info. Depends on the contract terms.
