10 Questions with Elizabeth (Elly) Kinne

1. Introduction: What's your story?

Hi I'm Elizabeth Kinne (some call me Elly) owner of Weddings by Bluesky. I'm passionate about capturing the most authentic, powerful and epically gorgeous version of my clients. Nothing makes me happier than hearing my clients gasp and go "wow - I can't believe that's me."

My clients don't want cookie cutter, light and airy or muted tone photographs that most photographers use around here. They want vibrant, epic photographs that are full of life and capture people in their best light.... and after a decade of photographing people - I'm still thrilled to give them just that!

2. How long have you been shooting weddings? How many weddings have you photographed?

I've been photographing weddings for over 18 years, I lost count over 500!

I'm a bit unique not only in the sheer amount of time I've been an active photographer (most don't make it past year 3 in this business), but also that I've also been trained as a life coach. Not just an overnight course, but an in depth 2 year program.

I've combined my experience as a coach and photographer and use these tools with my clients to make their experience even more meaningful. I also use these skills to teach other photographers. I've taught 100's of photographers through the years. one on one coaching and workshops. I've even held retreats. My specialty is client experience and lighting. I'm known for my magazine cover worthy epic and emotional photographs.

3. How would you describe your photography style?

Epic and meaningful.

4. How well in advance should couples book their wedding photographer?

When you know. Seriously, I wouldn't wait because there is no rhythm or reason for how far in advance we book. Some days book years in advance, some book months out. If you connect with a photographer, their work speaks to your soul and you know your date - what are you waiting for?

5. What are the different packages that you offer and which one is your most popular package?

We offer collections ranging from 2 hour elopements to a full luxury experience including multiple sessions, multiple albums, etc. It really depends on what our clients are looking for. I'd say our most popular collection is our "Billboard Collection" which includes: 7 hours of wedding day coverage, 2 photographers, a lighting/dress fluffer/time manager assistant, one session (with an $800 art credit), hand editing, digital negatives of your wedding, and our luxury album. That collection is $6700.

6. Are you the wedding photographer who will be shooting on the wedding day? Who else is there in your team?

We have two lead photographers, myself (Elly) and Brittany. Both of us have over 10 years of wedding photography experience and our work is indistinguishable from each other. Our second photographers are also very experienced (at least 5 years). We hire the best of the best to ensure our clients have the best experience and coverage from beginning to end!

7. Do you charge a travel fee? For what distance? What does that cover?

We include the Charlotte and Triad area in our coverage with no extra travel fee. Contact us to get a quote if outside of these areas.

8. Are albums or prints included in your packages?

Albums are included in every single one of our collections (even our elopements)! There is nothing like reliving your day through a gorgeous luxury album you can hold in your hands.

9. How long after the wedding will the couple receive the images? How will they be delivered?

Typically 6-8 weeks, but we always strive to deliver early.

10. What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?

We require a non refundable retainer to hold your date in place. We only take a limited number of weddings a year (less than 15!) and invest a significant amount of time into each client before we ever pick up a camera. The non refundable retainer covers our expenses to do so.
