1. Introduction: What's your story?
Hi, I'm Heather Hanson, the creative force behind The Feisty Atelier and Heather Hanson Photography. Sixteen years ago, I captured my first wedding and from that moment I was hooked. There is something truly magical about documenting love stories, and I feel incredibly fortunate to do what I love every day.
Over the years, I’ve refined my craft, developing a style that blends artistry with authenticity. My approach is all about capturing real moments—the laughter, the quiet glances, the joyful tears — so that my clients can relive their day exactly as it unfolded. I would say my photography is bold, luxurious, and rich with emotion, designed to create timeless, striking images that stand out and tell a story.
Based in the Minneapolis area, I work with couples and clients who value creativity, connection, and a little bit of feistiness in their experience.
2. How long have you been shooting weddings? How many weddings have you photographed?
2025 Will be my sixteenth year photographing weddings. Altogether, I've photographed over 400 couples!
3. How would you describe your photography style?
My photography style is vibrant, emotional, and playful. I use natural colors in my editing and guide my couples with candid prompts, creating images that feel effortlessly posed yet dynamic. The result is a photojournalistic aesthetic with a high-fashion edge—reminiscent of Harper’s Bazaar or Vogue.
4. How well in advance should couples book their wedding photographer?
Popular dates can book two years in advance, so it's important to book me as soon as you have a date and venue set. My clients come to me at various stages of planning — I’ve been booked as far as three to four years out for weddings and as little as a few days before an elopement. On average, most couples book around 14 months in advance, especially if they want to use their engagement photos for 'Save the Date' cards. I usually keep an updated calendar on my website for quick reference because of this.
Popular dates to keep in mind, especially for Minnesota weddings are Fridays and Saturdays in September and October, as well as any dates with fun number patterns like April 4, 2026 (4/4/26) or June 6, 2026 (6/6/26). These aesthetically pleasing or symbolic dates tend to be in high demand, so if you're considering one, I highly recommend booking as early as possible to secure your spot!

5. What are the different packages that you offer and which one is your most popular package?
I offer three different wedding photography packages, that range from an essentials "Silver" package at $3620 to an "Exclusive" Photo and Video bundle at $12, 250, though everything is fully customizable. My most popular package is my "Gold" which starts at $5,250 and includes 8 hours of coverage with the main photographer, 4 hours of second photographer coverage, a Custom 24-page Layflat Deluxe Album,50 custom-designed press cards, and an online photo gallery of the edited images. Additional hours are $450/hr, but a majority of my clients find the included 8-10 hours of coverage to be sufficient.
6. Are you the wedding photographer who will be shooting on the wedding day? Who else is there in your team?
As the owner and sole photographer of my business, I personally capture every wedding I book. When you hire me, you’re not just getting my brand—you’re getting me, my artistry, and my full dedication to telling your love story.

7. Do you charge a travel fee? For what distance? What does that cover?
I charge a mileage fee of $0.55 per mile for weddings located more than 50 miles outside the Twin Cities, MN. I also travel for destination weddings across the U.S. and internationally, including California, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, Belgium, France, and beyond! Travel to these locations requires a flight fee and accommodations. If you're dreaming of a wedding anywhere in the world, reach out—I’m always up for an adventure!
8. Are albums or prints included in your packages?
Albums and prints are included in select packages—both the Exclusive and Gold packages feature custom Layflat Deluxe Albums, with the Exclusive package also offering a Photo Guest Book and $500 print credit to put toward wall art, prints, and albums. The Silver package does not include an album but offers à la carte options for prints and albums.

9. How long after the wedding will the couple receive the images? How will they be delivered?
My clients can expect to receive their wedding photos via a digital gallery approximately six weeks after their wedding. Turnaround time may vary slightly depending on the season, with weddings between November and March often delivered more quickly.
10. What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?
In the unfortunate event of a wedding cancellation or postponement, all fees and deposits paid are nonrefundable. However, I strive to be as flexible as possible—especially in light of recent challenges like the pandemic—and I have often accommodated couples by transferring deposits to new dates. I will always do my best to work with you and find a solution that supports your unique situation.
