10 Questions with Christora Osters

1. Introduction: What's your story?

Hi! I'm Christora. My love of photography came from spending time in China of all places. One of the gentlemen I worked with had two cameras, allowed me to use one, and when my photos weren't as stunning as his... well, let's just say I was hooked. It's the competitive spirit in me :)

I understand the importance of capturing your wedding and the moments leading up to the two most important words of your new life... I DO! I'd love to meet you and your fiancé and hear your story. My work reflects my love for authenticity, and I am committed to give you nothing but the best!
When I'm not behind the camera, I'm usually traveling, spending time with my hubs, reading or writing - I love to explore new places, try new restaurants and teach photography to amateurs and professionals alike.

One of my guilty pleasures is binging the Office on Netflix while devouring a pint of Graeter's Black Cherry Chocolate Chip. I am a self-professed comic book nerd who loves all things Marvel - and my husband recently got me into Star Wars... It is the Way :)

When Green Apple Photography started in 2013 it was a simple passion project designed to keep my creativity and joy flowing. What it has become is beyond my wildest dreams.

Grateful does not begin to describe how I feel every time I look at the people who have come on board the past seven years. Vetted through an intense training program, each of them are an integral part of making your day perfect.

We believe that love is the best thing we can do. We believe that preparation is key. We believe that tears of joy, moments of exhilaration, and hidden emotions are what make your big day unique. Capturing those forevermore is our speciality.

Your love is what drives us forward, brings us to our knees with gratitude, and makes us who we are today.

Thank you for sharing your love with us. It is truly an honor to be a part of your day.

2. How long have you been shooting weddings? How many weddings have you photographed?

I have photographed over 125 weddings in the last 5 years.

While 2020 was a slow year due to the pandemic we have more than made up for it in 2021 by booking nearly 50 weddings as a company.

I limit my head photography to 30 weddings a year. We have a team of 4 other photographers who have been personally trained, retrained, and helped along the way.

This limit allows each photographer to focus on their individualized clients.

All editing is done in house.

3. How would you describe your photography style?

My photography style is authentic, artistic, bold, and unique. I adore capturing the real moments, and my style reflects true connection. My editing leans told rich, warm, vibrant hues. I describe myself as a warm and golden photographer. I love when a couple looks sun-kissed and feel like it compliments every stkin tone. Before and during weddings I love when I know my couple well enough to not only consider them friends, but also family. I tell the story of your day in the most authentic way possible. While I love natural light, and use it often throughout engagements and weddings, we also use a lot of off-camera flash to create those epic photos that will withstand the test of time.

4. How well in advance should couples book their wedding photographer?

We are booked 12 months out so if you want your ideal wedding date, it's important to reach out as soon as possible. If you're looking at a Saturday in the fall this is the most popular time for weddings in the Kentucky, Ohio, or Indiana region. Our fall schedule is usually booked up by the summer of the previous year.

January, February, and March are the least busy months.

One of favorite new trends are weekday weddings and we offer discounted rates on those days.

5. What are the different packages that you offer and which one is your most popular package?

While we do not offer set collections our pricing starts at $3000 for Saturday weddings.

Part of the process of booking with us includes a discovery meeting. We'll ask the questions you didn't think about, figure out exactly what you and your fiancé need for your day to be perfect, and we'll custom build a collection from there.

6. Are you the wedding photographer who will be shooting on the wedding day? Who else is there in your team?

I take a limit of 30 weddings per year, but our company photographs around 50.

Besides myself, we have four photographers on staff, all of whom are personally trained and tested on a bi-monthly basis.

We pride ourself on delivering the same experience regardless of who is there on your big day :)

Depending on your needs, a second photographer is available for most wedding days as well.

7. Do you charge a travel fee? For what distance? What does that cover?

For weddings in the Louisville, Lexington, Cincinnati, area I do not charge for travel. Anything further than 90miles from Louisville, I charge a 50 cents per mile travel feel, and $150 per night for a hotel.

For destination weddings that require plane tickets, I bundle my travel fees into my pricing so you don't have to worry about a thing!

I've photographed weddings in the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, South Carolina, Alabama, California, and Georgia. I LOVE traveling!

8. Are albums or prints included in your packages?

With our discovery meeting we will discuss how you'll display your wedding photos for generations to come. From there we determine what should be included in your collection. All collections include high res edited files.

Prints through our online galleries and can be ordered at any time!

9. How long after the wedding will the couple receive the images? How will they be delivered?

Weddings typically take around two months to deliver. The maximum time for any contract is 10 weeks.

I provide 10-15 edited sneak peeks within 24 hours of the wedding, and then deliver the edited wedding photos in an online gallery when I'm done. The photos are high res and you can download them directly from the gallery to share with friends or family. You can also order prints directly through the gallery if you so choose.

10. What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?

Cancellation of your wedding means you forfeit your retainer.

If you move your wedding to a new date, and we are available, we transfer the deposit to the new date, no problem.

Changing dates might mean a change in photographer within the company. Since we have associate photographers available for this very reason there is no need for a different contract.
