10 Questions with Chris Ferenzi

1. Introduction: What's your story?

Hey, I'm Chris! I take photographs you'd want to grab on your way out of a burning building (although I sincerely hope that you NEVER have to flee a burning building).

But really, I love that I get to tell the story of people’s wedding day (and proposal!) with art that is both meaningful and unexpected. These big moments in life are so full of love and nuance and they deserve to be remembered in detail. It’s my goal to give you timeless photos that celebrate the realness of your story with a thoughtful and playful approach.

I was a mechanical engineer for three years, and then a project analyst for six (my speciality was analyzing projects). Then I hit 30 and decided to quit after suffering from chronic analysis paralysis. Now, I'm helping tell the stories of people in love by capturing some of the happiest and most important moments of their lives. Is it easy? No, but I sure am having fun!

2. How long have you been shooting weddings? How many weddings have you photographed?

I started shooting weddings part-time in 2007 and I went full time at the end of 2016. In total, more than 150 (the majority of which have been since 2017). I should do a recount but…I’m too busy taking pictures!

3. How would you describe your photography style?

Modern, geometric, unexpected, and inventive. I appreciate bold aesthetics, expansive compositions, and incorporating architectural elements. Why have an epic location or venue if you don't plan on photographing it?

4. How well in advance should couples book their wedding photographer?

I recommend booking a photographer around the same time you book your venue. I normally book 12-18 months in advance, and May and October tend to be busiest months of the year. Saturday is my most popular day for larger weddings, with smaller weddings sometimes on Fridays or Sundays.

6. Are you the wedding photographer who will be shooting on the wedding day? Who else is there in your team?

I am currently the only photographer at Chris Ferenzi Photography, so yes, I will be photographing your wedding (along with a second photographer if that’s included in the package you choose). However, I am considering offering the option for an associate photographer in the future.

7. Do you charge a travel fee? For what distance? What does that cover?

I charge the federal mileage rate ($0.56/mile) for any wedding more than 2 hours from DC. I’ll also need lodging for the night for extended travel (I gotta sleep!)

8. Are albums or prints included in your packages?

Albums and prints can be purchase a la carte, but there are albums included in Collections 3, 4, and 5.

9. How long after the wedding will the couple receive the images? How will they be delivered?

I deliver photos 8 to 10 weeks after the wedding. That amount of time allows me to carefully select edit the best of the best photos from your wedding. You’ll receive them in an online gallery where you can view, download, and order prints if you'd like.

10. What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?

Case by case basis, however in general, the deposit is non-refundable.
