1. Introduction: What's your story?

My name is Karla Emm, I am the the lead artist and founder of J'ADORE BEAUTY. My love of beauty began with the fusion of art and romance in my life, where I found my passion in being hands-on with creating art and using my artistry skills on creating looks for the people in my life during special moments.
In 2011, I began working on-location for boudoir photoshoots, magazine editorials and special events, which lead me to working with brides on their big day. As a result, I founded J'ADORE BEAUTY for the love of beauty and the beauty of love.

The inspiration for j'adore is from the french boudoir, the epitome of timeless elegance and the luxurious art of seduction of the femme fatale. The J’adore Experience is essential to being pampered, revitalized, and empowered from the inside-out. With dedication and perseverance, we created an upscale experience in hair and makeup artistry that comes with a commitment to excellence.

We are grateful to have been recognized and awarded as the Best High-End Makeup Artistry for the San Francisco Bay Area, as well as the San Francisco Business Excellence Award and Wedding Wire’s Bride’s Choice Award. We have accumulated an extensive list of awards won, publications, editorials and treasured feedback from our loving clients around the world. 2. What's your experience as a bridal hair & makeup artist? How many brides are in there in your portfolio?

My experience as a bridal hair and makeup artist spans over 10+ years, having worked on my first bride in 2010 and building a countless bridal clientele over the years as our team grew. I have worked alongside my team at J'ADORE BEAUTY on over 500 brides. We emphasize on bringing our client's vision into a reality by creating a timeless look that enhances our client's natural beauty. Over time, we have perfected our craft and specialize in vintage glamour.

3. What are the different packages that you offer and which one is your most popular package?

We offer a variety of packages for the bride and bridal party. Starting with the "Happily Ever After", which is the bride's personal package that comes with a preliminary bridal hair and airbrush makeup trial, wedding day hair and makeup, Airbrush Makeup option, lash application, veil attachment and/or hair accessory attachment, a J'ADORE BEAUTY Bridal touch up kit, and one hour touch-up after the ceremony. We have a special package which is the "Belle & the Beau" for the bride and groom, this package offers everything the bride's personal package carries plus styling for the groom.

Our most popular package is the "Sassy Soirée" which is for the Bride plus five and it comes with the Wedding Day Hair and Makeup for the Bride, an Airbrush Makeup option for the bride, lash application, veil attachment and/or hair accessory attachment, a J'ADORE BEAUTY Bridal touch up kit, plus the hair and makeup for 5 bridesmaids or guests. It also comes with a one hour touch-up after ceremony and a detailed bridal beauty schedule for all guests.

4. Do you have a team of assistants or will you be the only artist that day? What will happen if you're sick or have an emergency on the wedding day?

We have a team of talented artists that are scheduled for the wedding as reflected in our bridal beauty schedule. Our artists commit to the event in advance and we schedule artists according to the bride's needs and number of people in the bridal party. In the event an artist cannot attend due to an emergency, we have an artist on-call for the day-of. We are fully committed to our brides and have never missed a single wedding.

5. Do you charge a travel fee? For what distance? What does that cover?

All of our services are on-location, so we come to you to the location of your choice. We have a small travel fee of $0.50 per mile outside of our city zones. We are transparent about our mileage and travel costs.

6. Can the bride book a wedding makeup trial appointment and will you also do a trial before the wedding?

Of course! We highly recommend bride's booking a bridal hair and makeup trial prior to the wedding day. During the trial we can go over the bride's look, her likes and dislikes and customize the look to fit the bride perfectly. Bridal Trials are a very important part of planning a bride's desired look and outcome.

7. What beauty products do you use and would you be open to the bride using her own make-up?

We use high quality products that give long-lasting, beautiful results. My favorite makeup and hair products for special events such as weddings are NARS, Bobbi Brown, Urban Decay, Tarte, Charlotte Tillbury, Milk, KVD, R+CO, Oribe, Monat, Kenra and more. Although our kits are built individually by the artist and their preferences, we aim to mostly carry products that are made by companies who have a focus on clean, cruelty-free and sustainable beauty. We always welcome a bride's product preferences and favorite products, especially if she has a specific reason such as allergies or sensitivities.

8. How can you make the bride's wedding makeup last and look good in photos?

We have our special tips and tricks to enhance the bride's longevity when it comes to hair and makeup. We highly recommend using a great setting powder, setting spray and strong hold hairspray during each of our beauty services.

9. How long will makeup take on the day and how long will you be staying for on the day?

We allot 2-3hrs for the bride's wedding day hair and makeup. We create a personalized bridal beauty schedule for the bride + bridal party to ensure the day flows smoothly and depending on the size of the bridal party, we can take about 45 mins - 1hr per service per person. We will stay until everyone is ready and looking fabulous!

10. What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?

All deposit monies paid by client will be refunded if contract is cancelled within three (3) days of contract signing. After the three day grace period, should a client cancel the booked event or any service on a contract, the deposit will not be refunded or transferred. If makeup artist cancels at any time or be unable to perform her duties for any reason, 100% of the deposit paid will be refunded by check within two (2) weeks. Client agrees that the refund of 100% of the deposit is the only liability to J’Adore Beauty/ Karla Emm, employees and agents.
