Hair & Makeup Artist - Nicolette Brycki

10 Questions with Nicolette Brycki

1. Introduction: What's your story?

My name is Nicolette Brycki, and I am a lifelong fine artist. I spent my childhood with paint, pastel, or clay on my hands. Fast forward to adulthood, and I'm a teacher. I left a career teaching French, to become the lead makeup artist and CEO of Chic Cosmetique Makeup Artistry. Now, you will find me both behind of and infront of the camera; beautifying women for their weddings and discussing top beauty and style trends on TV. In addition to Chic Cosmetique Makeup Artistry, I am also a TV beauty and lifestyle expert and have appeared on both local and national TV. I have worked on air with top beauty brands like Glossier, Olay, Crepe Erase, Nira Skin, and so many more.

The name "Chic Cosmetique" was developed on a beach in the South of France. After leaving my teaching career, where I felt overworked and undervalued, I sought out a higher purpose in life. Chic Cosmetique started as a beauty and style blog, but then developed into a boutique makeup artistry company that serves clients who are looking for chic, polished, seamless, fresh, elegant, and beautiful makeup. My years both on and off screen have perfected my skill and technique for delivering results that clients want.

2. What's your experience as a bridal hair & makeup artist? How many brides are in there in your portfolio?

I have been a bridal makeup artist for ten years. I consider myself a boutique makeup artist, so I work with select brides throughout the year and do not load my schedule with endless weddings. I like to maintain a close relationship with my brides, giving them the attention and customer service they desire for a no-hassle experience. As a makeup artist, I also want to feel fresh and ready to work with my brides so they get the best result.

3. What are the different packages that you offer and which one is your most popular package?

Brides usually book me to secure their wedding date, and then do a trial closer to their wedding date so we can map out the beauty game plan. In certain circumstances, I will offer a free makeup service for a special flower girl in the wedding party. Services are customizable, and brides and bridal party attendants can select makeup only or decide if they would like to receive add-ons such as airbrushed foundation, strip lashes, or individual lashes.

4. Do you have a team of assistants or will you be the only artist that day? What will happen if you're sick or have an emergency on the wedding day?

I handle weddings myself, but if a party is large enough, I will bring another makeup artist onboard to help. I have never missed one wedding in all the years I have been in business. Should a terrible emergency occur, I have a network of makeup professionals that I can reach out to to cover me in that event. For all weddings, brides work with me; a certified professional and master makeup artist. I do not send out junior level makeup artists, and I believe that a once-in-a-lifetime day should have once-in-a-lifetime makeup. You have your pictures forever.

5. Do you charge a travel fee? For what distance? What does that cover?

A travel fee is charged in certain circumstances and covers mileage, gas, wear and tear of vehicle, time, and tolls.

6. Can the bride book a wedding makeup trial appointment and will you also do a trial before the wedding?

Yes, absolutely. I try to be as flexible as possible for my brides, and because I run a boutique operation, I am able to offer that flexibility.

7. What beauty products do you use and would you be open to the bride using her own make-up?

I use all HD, professional, and longwear makeup. Expect to see brands like Mac, Charlotte Tilbury, Temptu, Lorac, Smashbox, Sonia Roselli, Nars, Viseart, Inglot, Senna, Graftobian, RCMA, and many more. All products are tested by me and selected for their longevity, quality, color payout, and tone.

8. How can you make the bride's wedding makeup last and look good in photos?

I have developed my signature technique to ensure that makeup lasts and looks fabulous in photos. Makeup is applied in light, soft layers ensuring it lasts and looks seamless and beautiful. In fact, photographers absolutely love when brides choose me. It makes their jobs much easier, because there is less retouching on their part that must be done.

9. How long will makeup take on the day and how long will you be staying for on the day?

Usually, makeup lasts between 50 minutes to an hour and change for the bride. I arrive early to set up, ensure enough time for each person to receive quality makeup, and I will stay post services for quick touch ups and clean up. I build in extra "just-in-case" time into the schedule as well. We stay on time so that you are ready to get to the alter or for your first look on time! Photographers also love how I am able to get the entire bridal party ready so that they are able to stay on time.

10. What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?

A non-refundable deposit is required to save the date in my schedule.
