10 Questions with Kenneth Taylor

1. Introduction: What's your story?

We (Kenneth Taylor and Gregory Abati) started together working in EMS for the city of Louisville. We were fortunate enough to have worked many musical events and other standbys where we found ourselves constantly engaging with the public, enjoying laughs, and entertaining citizens and patients with our own random musical playlists and friendly and comical banter back and forth while on the job. It was natural for us to be able to read people and turn the moods of those who were having bad days, around. Dealing with trauma day in and day out, we felt that we needed to engage in something a bit happier, and so A/T Entertainment, LLC was born. No longer were we dealing with tragedies, but now, bringing people together often on one of the most important days of their lives.

2. What's your experience as a wedding DJ? How many weddings have you done?

We have worked with a few wedding DJs prior to opening A/T Entertainment, in our first 6 months, we had landed over 30 weddings! Today, we book almost every weekend and have grown our staff too!

3. How far in advance do couples need to book your services?

We ask that couples book our services at least a year in advance. As we have gained popularity, our availability has become more and more limited. It's important to book early!

4. What's your rate? What does that include?

We have multiple packages geared to numerous budgets and styles. Our simplest package starts off at $975 for three hours, whereas our largest packages contain LED dance floors, low-laying fog machines, officiants, day-of coordinators, 6-hour reception time, etc.. We never charge for setup and we allow a grace period for overtime. We understand that weddings can be expensive, and so we try to help out as much as possible within reason. There is a possibility you will probably spend more on food and flowers than you do on your DJ and that's okay, but in a month after your wedding, most of your guests won’t remember the cake, the food, the flowers, or your table decorations, but they WILL remember what a great time they had celebrating your wedding and being entertained by A/T Entertainment.

5. Are you available to travel if needed?

Yes! We have multiple weddings coming up that are in different states. Some of our favorites include Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Arkansas and Florida!

6. How would you describe your style?

Entertaining! We really do our best to fill the room with energy and laughter! Our music style varies depending on the couple's invasions and likes, but we can short mix and long mix; leaving no "dead air" on the dance floor. We personalize receptions as much as possible and tend to make them "couple and guest-focused". Let's be honest, your dress, flowers, and table decorations will be gorgeous! The ceremony will be beautiful and the food will taste amazing! All of these things will create your ambiance, but they won’t entertain your guests; that's where we come in, and we do our best to provide that finishing touch, booking us as the entertainment is your thank-you gift to your guests.

7. What's your backup plan if there's an equipment malfunction? Do you bring backup equipment?

Equipment failure has to be one of the biggest nightmares any wedding DJ could face! With that in mind, we do carry backup equipment like multiple laptops, iPads, multiple mics, etc.

8. What's your sick day policy?

Luckily, there are almost always two of us at any wedding! But on the off chance, that neither of us can perform due to illness that we both simultaneously contracted, we have been fortunate to have built relationships with other Wedding DJs who would jump in and help within a heartbeat. We are proud to be a multi-DJ organization!

9. How do you motivate a shy crowd to dance? What do you do to motivate the crowd if nobody is dancing?

Unfortunately, there may come a time when your crowd just doesn't want to dance, and that's okay, so being able to read a crowd and pick up on cues is vitally important, though. We have developed multiple techniques to get the crowd dancing! Our favorite way is by including in dancing games by using the wedding party! We have certain songs selected that we have the wedding party dance to, and then they are asked to grab someone else and bring them onto the dance floor, it's fun and tends to work pretty well! There are also drinking games we may lead to get people back onto the dance floor!

10. What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?

Back in 2020, we allowed for cancellations and full refunds, though as we have headed back to normalcy, our policy is that retainers are only 25% down which is typically non-refundable. You can cancel anytime with a refund of any additional payment paid as long as the cancelation is greater than 6 months prior to the event.
