I have been called the Leslie Knope of photography, and it’s true – I believe in giving a damn.
I’m a hype woman in the most sincere way possible. I get so excited seeing my clients enjoying themselves in front of the camera and watching the people around me grow and succeed. Building relationships and caring about you as a person is a core value in my life and in my business.

I am passionate about representation and social justice. I am a proud member of the Mid-America LGBT Chamber, and I am a firm believer in putting my money where my mouth is: I am very active in progressive politics and have worked with candidates such as Jason Kander, Sly James, and Quinton Lucas; I work with Harvesters to help end hunger and food deserts, and I was a nominee for the Big Brothers Big Sisters Most Wanted Auction in 2020.

I worked in craft coffee as I was launching my business, hence the name Black Coffee Photo Company – you could easily say I’m a coffee snob. I have my own espresso machine at home. Good coffee is the correct way to start the day. I inevitably fall in love with a coffee shop in every city I travel to. My life and my business revolve around being heavily caffeinated. Always on-brand.
I have a sleeve of Harry Potter tattoos on my leg. I once ran a Tumblr dedicated to Lego Star Wars Yoda Chronicles, my favorite place I’ve ever traveled to is Big Sur, and I require lots of sunshine and warmth.

I have been photographing professionally since 2015 and live in downtown KC with my partner of 7 years.
