10 Questions with Evan Robold

1. Introduction: What's your story?

Hi, I'm Evan. I've been photographing couples in and around Tucson, AZ since back in 2008. I truly love getting to know couples and creating images that capture their connection. My approach is centered on capturing a couple's normal interaction, while utilizing (or creating) amazing light.

2. How long have you been shooting weddings? How many weddings have you photographed?

Since 2008 I've photographed between 12 and 24 weddings a year. Small, intimate backyard weddings are as joyful and meaningful as big venue 200-300+ guest weddings and I love seeing individual character of each wedding I've captured. Although most of the weddings I've photographed were here in Tucson, I'm more than happy to capture elopements and destination weddings!

3. How would you describe your photography style?

My style can be described as documentary, with a mix of contemporary and traditional aspects. I love motion, interaction, and capturing things as they happen rather than interfering too much. I give direction as a default, but couples are free to move, goof around, dance, or whatever they're feelin'! My lighting and editing style is minimal and natural - I enhance images in a subtle way to make images appear as they looked and felt on the wedding day.

4. How well in advance should couples book their wedding photographer?

For cool-weather peak months in Tucson such as March, April, October and November, I book out as far as 18 months. Availability is more open in the hot summer months, and I'm often available just a month or two in advance.

5. What are the different packages that you offer and which one is your most popular package?

Pricing begins at $2000 with options to customize and tailor-fit a package to your wedding day. Add-ons include 2nd photographer coverage, custom-designed albums, and large prints.

6. Are you the wedding photographer who will be shooting on the wedding day? Who else is there in your team?

I, Evan, am the owner and primary photographer of Evan Robold Photography. When you book Evan Robold Photography, you get Evan - not an associate. :) 90% of weddings I've captured, I've done as the solo photographer for the day. For couples that are prioritizing coverage of two different events happening in different locations at the same time, or who don't want a single moment missed, an additional (secondary) photographer may be needed.

7. Do you charge a travel fee? For what distance? What does that cover?

I love to travel, and for certain "dream" locations of mine, travel costs may be waived! When a travel fee is charged (only for locations outside Tucson, AZ), I try to keep costs as low as possible. I typically do not charge a travel fee for drives of less than 2 hours one-way.

8. Are albums or prints included in your packages?

Albums and prints may be added a la carte to any wedding photography package.

9. How long after the wedding will the couple receive the images? How will they be delivered?

Delivery is guaranteed within 8 weeks. These are images that you will treasure for a lifetime, and not something to be rushed out. I work on every single image to ensure they all look their best and will print perfectly. That being said, I hate making my couples wait! So I often send a handful of "sneak peeks" within a couple days after the wedding.

10. What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?

Since no other bookings are taken for the date reserved, retainers are non-refundable for cancelled weddings. However, if the wedding date must be changed due to circumstances outside of control, retainers are transferable to new dates. This is often handled on a case-by-case basis and I try to be as flexible as possible.
