FAQs

Our judges are experienced, knowledgeable and trained to make sure your wedding ceremony complies with all legal requirements and is conducted in a fashion filled with warmth, sincerity, dignity and just the right touch of good humor to make your ceremony meaningful and memorable. Having a judge preside at your ceremony lets the world know that your commitment to marry is one of the most important commitments you will ever make.
We are the ONLY civil wedding officiant service in New York State providing licensed former New York State Supreme Court Justices to officiate custom, personalized civil wedding ceremonies at venues of the couples' choices. We provide personal attention to detail to make sure everything about the ceremony is perfect for the couple. Our judges are easy with whom to work; they are warm, caring and eager to please and have performed hundreds of weddings at all types of locations from television shows, to Madison Square Garden during a Rangers Hockey game to intimate backyard weddings and to weddings at the top venues in New York City and Washington DC. No wedding is too big or too small and each gets the same individualized attention. In addition, couples have me as their contact person to help with every aspect of the wedding ceremony. My response is extremely quick and I am committed to providing the best service possible.
We have never had a judge cancel a wedding ceremony in the six years we have been in business. However, if for any reason, the judge should become unable to perform the ceremony, we have the ability to provide another judge to make sure everything goes as planned.
We will perform any legally permitted weddings. During the pandemic, we sent a letter to Governor Cuomo urging him to issue an Executive Order to permit virtual weddings. Once the Governor issued the executive order, during 2020-2021 we performed more than 200 virtual ceremonies to enable couples to marry who had not been able to have the wedding they initially had hoped to have. We welcome marriages of same-sex couples. Our judges were the first to officiate wedding ceremonies of same-sex couples in New York State and we have done dozens. Vow renewal ceremonies have become very popular this year as couples seek to have celebrations with family and friends now that venues are re-opening. Our ceremonies are civil ceremonies but we are happy to include any cultural traditions, readings from scriptures, and other elements that are important to our couples. One of the concerns of couples is that they want their ceremony performed by someone who knows them to add that special personal touch. But choosing a friend to perform your ceremony is fraught with problems. We get to know our couples so that we can recount their romantic journey that led to marriage and include wonderful stories to make their guests fill with emotion as they listen and watch the proceedings.
I am proud to say that JUDGES FOR LOVE has been the recipient of numerous awards and accolades for superb service to our clients. The New York Times and the Daily News have written articles about us. ABC TV's Good Morning America has consistently chosen us to officiate weddings on national television. We have received more than 100 five star reviews for our service and commitment to excellence. We are delighted to be one of Wedding Rule's top officiants in New York State!
