Evelyn Chapel

It includes the Chapel space for 1 hour at your rehearsal and 3 hours at your wedding, a musician to play either the organ or the piano at your wedding ceremony, the use of the entire building including the second floor meditation area, lower level Fellowship area, and lower level conference room, the use of such liturgical supplies as a kneeler, flower stands, podium, lectern, etc., free parking, and a member of our staff as a facility coordinator to make sure the venue is perfectly ready for your event.

In order to reserve the Chapel for your ceremony, please: 1) visit our website www.iwu.edu/weddings and read through the Chapel Use Policies. 2) complete the online application form, and send or drop off the required deposit at our office. 50% of the amount of reservation is required as a deposit payment. Reservations are not final until completed forms and fees received and confirmed by the Conference Services staff by email. Couples may reserve the Chapel up to 18 months in advance. Due to a large number of services and programs at the Chapel, we suggest putting in your reservation as early as possible. The University may refuse an application because of scheduling conflicts or other reasons at the discretion of the Conference Services office or the University Chaplain.

The affiliated fee is $750. The not-affiliated fee is $950. The reservation fee is determined by the couple's affiliation with Illinois Wesleyan University. If one member of the couple is a current IWU student, staff member, faculty member, or alumnus, then the couple will receive the affiliate status. Additionally, any children of the before mentioned IWU community members will also be considered affiliates. A deposit of 50% of the Chapel fee is required with the application. We take checks (made payable to Illinois Wesleyan University) or credit cards (an extra fee will apply). We also have some other rate options for last-minute bookings and very small ceremonies. Yes! We have many unique locations on campus, including the Joslin Atrium and the Ames Library, that are available as ceremony locations depending on the size and date of your wedding. There are ample outdoor locations on campus providing a beautiful backdrop for a wedding ceremony. If there is a location on campus where you are interested in having your ceremony - just ask! We would be happy to look into the possibility of turning your unique dream into reality!

Yes! Illinois Wesleyan University's beautiful event spaces are available to the general public for rental. The Young Main Lounge and the Hansen Center Court are our two leading spaces for wedding receptions. We also offer some smaller, non-traditional reception and event venues. The affiliated discount also applies here! The rental of reception spaces at IWU includes the space reserved from 10am-midnight, the use of all the in-stock banquet furniture (standard round tables, 8ft rectangular tables, chairs, stage) that reside in the same building, the normal setup and teardown of said furniture. All food and beverage to accompany an event must be supplied by our exclusive caterer, with the exception of a wedding cake. Illinois Wesleyan University welcomes external vendors; however, all decorations that are suspended from the ceiling or room fixtures must be approved in advance by Illinois Wesleyan University.
