10 Questions with Erin Marton

1. Introduction: What's your story?

I'm Erin Marton, owner and lead photographer of Erin Marton Photography! I specialize in candid, colorful wedding photos that capture the energy of the day so you can relive the moments over and over again through your pictures in years to come. Photography started as a hobby for me as a freshman in college, but it quickly grew to be a part of my life as I documented travels and fun memories with my friends and family. As I was finishing school, more and more people hired me for family photos and senior pictures, and I realized I could serve people with photos as my real, full-time job! I finished working for a nonprofit and dove headfirst into owning my photography studio. Beyond just great pictures, I care about cultivating an excellent client experience for each of my couples. I believe the process of photography matters just as much as the results, and making people feel comfortable in front of the camera is definitely my superpower! I absolutely love my job and would be honored to photograph your wedding day.

2. How long have you been shooting weddings? How many weddings have you photographed?

Heading into 2021, I've photographed 45+ weddings in just a few years of owning this business! Before I ever created my business, I spent years honing my skills as a photographer through multiple previous jobs and through some journalism work when I was at school. In 2018, I launched my business full-time, and it has been a whirlwind experience ever since! I have loved getting to photograph big and small weddings these past few years as the industry has changed.

3. How would you describe your photography style?

My photos are primarily candid and colorful, capturing the energy of the moment in a single frame while maintaining the same beautiful colors we saw on the day in the final edits! I also work with my clients to create a comfortable, easy atmosphere so portraits feel like a breeze.

4. How well in advance should couples book their wedding photographer?

I highly recommend booking your photographer at least one year out from your wedding to make sure they are available! For me, the fall is usually the busiest time. With the past year of weddings changing so much, I have noticed 2022 beginning to book up faster than usual! Friday-Sunday weddings are most popular, but I recommend a weekday for an elopement or small wedding (less than 30 guests).

5. What are the different packages that you offer and which one is your most popular package?

I offer several different options as a film and digital (or hybrid) wedding photographer! One of the most popular options is 8 hours of wedding photography coverage and includes engagement photos for $4250. It includes 550+ edited photos delivered in an online gallery within 30 days of the wedding, and clients also have access through me to a professional grade printing lab for any albums or prints they desire. Additional hours are $275.

6. Are you the wedding photographer who will be shooting on the wedding day? Who else is there in your team?

I am the lead photographer for every wedding I book! If couples choose to add on a second photographer or book a package including a second photographer, I'll hire a trusted assistant to be there with me.

7. Do you charge a travel fee? For what distance? What does that cover?

I work from Santa Barbara to San Diego without a travel fee! Beyond, there could be fees covering mileage, hotel, or flights if necessary. These fees vary depending on location, so let's chat about your specific plans!

8. Are albums or prints included in your packages?

Clients can feel free to purchase any prints straight from the gallery, or we can work together on creating a custom heirloom album for you!

9. How long after the wedding will the couple receive the images? How will they be delivered?

Within 48 hours, you can expect to receive a handful of sneak peek photos, and the rest will be delivered within 30 days of your wedding! They are all delivered in an online gallery where you can view, share, and download pictures.

10. What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?

If clients choose to cancel their event, it's completely up to them, but the contract does remain firm as any date reserved on my calendar is a date I am unable to book other weddings or shoots.
