1. Introduction: What's your story?
Hello I'm Monina Wright, creator of Moderne Beauty Studios & LG Waxing & Esthetics. Up until college I suffered from severe acne which lead to a very low self esteem. Makeup was the one thing that helped me overcome my low self esteem because I could temporarily cover up my acne scars and breakouts. Then I met an esthetician in college and she helped me realize the importance and connection between gut health & skin health.
After college I took my knowledge and skills for makeup and skincare and created my bridal beauty business. Now I offer permanent skin solutions for my brides and provide flawlessly bridal makeup and hair designs on their most important day.
My love of makeup and esthetics license has helped me to grow a thriving bridal beauty business in the Bay Area.
2. What's your experience as a bridal hair & makeup artist? How many brides are in there in your portfolio?
Shortly after graduating with a B.S. degree from UCSD, I realized my calling was in the beauty industry. After I got married in 1996, and with the encouragement of my husband, I opened my doors and started offering on location makeup and hair services to brides throughout the Bay Area.
I have had the privilege of offering makeup and hair to 100's of brides for over 25 years. Being part of a bride's wedding day is something I never take for granted, which is why I only work and mentor makeup artists who have the same passion and professionalism I expect from myself.
3. What are the different packages that you offer and which one is your most popular package?
We offer several packages that include both makeup and hair services to a series of facials and peels to insure our brides have glowing skin on her wedding day.
We also offer packages with touch up kits or a honeymoon beauty box with all the beauty essentials our brides will need to look flawlessly on her honeymoon.
Our most popular package includes a trial run , day of makeup and hair and a touch up kit. Packages start at $550.
4. Do you have a team of assistants or will you be the only artist that day? What will happen if you're sick or have an emergency on the wedding day?
In order to provide our brides with top rated service, we only partner with artists who are licensed and or certified. Starting in 2021, we also provide in house certification in sanitation protocols specifically geared towards being Coved compliant in order to keep our clients safe and healthy throughout the process.
When a bride books a trial run, the artist conducting the trial run session will be the artist hired for day of services. At our trial runs all makeup and hairstyles are documented on a face chart along with several after photos. All steps are well documented in the event that the original artists becomes unavailable due to illness or other circumstances that prevent her from working and a new artists is required to be substituted in.
Once a bride decides to hire our team, she signs a contract and pays a retainer fee to secure her wedding date. Based on head count, assistant artists will also accompany the lead artists to help accommodate makeup and hair needs for the bridal party and or mother of the bride or mother of the groom.
5. Do you charge a travel fee? For what distance? What does that cover?
Our base price for makeup and hair services includes travel within Santa Clara County. If outside of Santa Clara county an additional travel fee will be added to the final balance.
We have artists who will travel as for North as Lake Tahoe and Yosemite and as far South as Monterey county.
If travel to venue is over 3 hours drive we require overnight stay accomodations the night before.
For San Francisco weddings or venues with limited parking, we also charge a parking fee.
6. Can the bride book a wedding makeup trial appointment and will you also do a trial before the wedding?
At Moderne Beauty all our brides are offered a complimentary 30 minutes consultation to meet and discuss styles of makeup and hair that she is interested in for her wedding day.
If she chooses to book a trial run, we suggest
conducting that session at least 3 months before the wedding date.

All our artists use only professional grade makeup, skincare and hair products. With our licenses we have access to products that the general public may not. But we understand that our clients may have specific skincare or ingredient needs, so we welcome our brides to bring in their own makeup or skincare. During the trial run our artists will help evaluate what products are best suited for each situation.
