A graduate of Wake Forest University, Karen entered into the even industry with a penchant for business savvy and an eye for design on a grand scale. With experience in planning, catering, and hotel management, Karen yearned to focus on the essence of what makes an event truly beautiful. Pouring over magazines and websites, going to workshops, and attending events and weddings, she came to realize it had always been one seemingly simple yet alluringly complex thing. Flowers.
Karen returned to school for design in order to further pursue her ideal and soon turned it into reality with the foundation of Lily Greenthumb’s in 2009. Housed in a tiny studio space, the company blossomed quickly and outgrew its original location. Karen and her team packed their clippers and design tables and headed to South End to a beautiful studio in close proximity to the best Charlotte has to offer.
When she is away from the studio, you can find Karen belting out Jimmy Buffett tunes and hosting nightly dance parties in her living room with her husband, George, and their daughters, Giles and Mills.
