10 Questions with Kevin Fisher

1. Introduction: What's your story?

I'm Kevin Fisher, founder and owner of Rotisserie Affair Catering. My passion for catering began while working in the hotel industry for more than 15 years. During those years, I worked my way from food services to general manager. I gained valuable experience in the food, beverage, banquet and wedding industry and even worked in safari lodges that hosted safari weddings, as well as International hotels all over the world.

I started catering with rotisseries as a side job to my general manager duties and over the past 32 years and hundreds of weddings, I've built up Rotisserie Affair Catering to one of the most successful catering businesses in San Diego.

My goal is to provide unique wedding packages with delicious and satisfying food along with terrific service.

2. How many weddings have your done in the past?

3. Do you charge a bulk fee or cost per person? What are your rates like?

We charge a cost per person but will charge an event price for smaller groups. Our rates are very fair and competitive with other caterers and we will work within your budget to provide a memorable and unique wedding for you.

4. Do you have a static menu, or can you do a custom menu? And can you take care of various allergy/dietary requests?

We have popular/favorite menu items that we often recommend for weddings but we absolutely do custom menus, including items not on our website. We have family members with food allergies so we are sensitive to allergies/dietary requests, including kosher meals and gluten free options.

5. What are your most popular dishes?

Our most popular dishes include:

Rotisserie Roasted Whole Pig - USDA whole pig slow cooked and then carved fresh on-site with all the trimmings and crispy skin for added flavor

6. Do you provide linens, table settings, and accessories? If you don’t provide linens, table settings, etc., will you handle coordinating the rental?

We can provide linens, table settings and accessories and can coordinate any rentals. We aim to simplify our clients' lives while they plan their special day.
We are a one stop shop for all your catering needs.

7. Will food be made on-site or brought in?

We are unique because we can cook foods "fresh on-site" in a smokeless, greaseless, environment, so our guests can see the meats being cooked in front of them, creating a visual show, incredible aroma and ambiance. Hungry guests can also customize their meat by choosing their desired level of doneness (rare, medium and well done) and whether they want the skin on or off or bones removed, we will do it right then and there. Our rotisseries allow us to provide kitchens on wheels and even convert to a serving carving station. We are absolutely self contained and can go anywhere. Guests love the experience, they feel part of the whole cooking process. All food can also be brought in fresh and ready to serve, if the situation arises.

8. Are tastings available and what is involved?

We offer tastings on Thursdays and Fridays from 11:30 - 2:00 as we are busy with events on the weekend. Once a client has settled on a menu, we provide a sampling of their menu in our custom tasting room.

9. Who else is in your team and how many people on your staff will be at the wedding?

We have a dedicated and loyal team of people that help with weddings. The number of staff depends on the size of the wedding. For a typical 100 guest wedding, we will have 4-5 people working. The design of our rotisserie means that we have lower staffing requirements but we are still able to provide great service to our clients, at the same time iliminating high labor costs
