For as long as I can remember, I’ve been interested in pastry and art. My mom would always bring us together by firing up the oven and letting us know we were making a new confection. I remember wanting to make delicious baked goods, just like her. As I grew up, I kept that love of baking.
After finishing a 6 year enlistment in the United States Air Force, I began to play with the possibilities of what I could do next with my career. It took a few years, but I began my education in pastry arts. While attending L’Academie De Cuisine in Gaithersburg, MD I was introduced into sugar flowers and intricate cakes. I was hooked.
I love creating organic, free-flowing designs, that incorporate something special from my client. Seeing the components of their big day, or even their clothing, can inspire me to create a cake they’re sure to remember.
When I’m not creating a new cake, I can be found taking photos, styling, or even working with a client through my planning and styling business Matthew Bean Events. I love laughter, a good cup of coffee, and adventure.
