Hi there! I am PJ (Pieter-Jan), the adventure-loving, camera yielding dude behind PJ van Schalkwyk Photography. I am a wedding and portrait photographer based in Fort Collins, Colorado. I’m really thankful that you stopped by! I am originally from South Africa and my photographic journey started in 2012 in South Korea where I was teaching English. Over the course of 5 years, I traveled to several countries with my camera, developing documentary storytelling skills and I was even published by prestigious publications such as National Geographic. Since 2017 I have been living in Colorado where I have been busy photographing many couple’s elopements, portraits, and weddings. I was also lucky enough to marry the love of my life Diana in 2018 in Colorado.

MY APPROACH & STYLE: I always show up on time and I will never leave early, and I work very hard. I don’t take myself too seriously, it’s about your day and not about my Instagram grid or portfolio. I consider myself to be an easygoing and friendly person and it seems that my clients do too! It’s important for me to deliver beautiful and meaningful images to you, but making sure your day is relaxed and does not have any unnecessary stress is also a very high priority for me. I will give you all the photos I take in high-resolution, without watermarks and I deliver a lot, in black and white, and in color. I prefer to keep my photos natural, but I also use my own lighting where necessary or where I see it creatively applicable.
