My background is a bit different from what you may hear from other planners. After college I worked in corporate America as a health care financial consultant for a few years and then made the switch to the advertising world where I worked in social media and website analytics for another few years. In both roles I managed teams, prepared reports and presented to numerous clients, and was the point person for multiple projects. I definitely got used to juggling a wide variety of tasks on a daily basis.
Despite having success in the corporate world, I wasn’t happy. Wedding planning had always interested me (and I’ve been watching Say Yes to the Dress for as long as I can remember!), but I absolutely fell in love with the industry while planning my own wedding. I started to work a few events on weekends in my spare time, immediately loved being on the other side, and haven’t looked back. Wedding planning taps into all of the things I was good at in the corporate world, but adds all of the fun, pretty, exciting details I was missing.
Over 5 years and 100 happy couples later, I still get excited to work through the budget, put together the perfect vendor team, finalize all the pretty details and bring everything to life on wedding day.
