10 Questions with Jonathan Fulvio

1. Introduction: What's your story?

Hello! My name is Jonathan Fulvio, owner and founder of Jonathan Fulvio Cinema.

My story and adventure in the wedding industry started approximately 7 years ago. After graduating from college with a degree in Multimedia Production, I was very fortunate to find work in Fresno assisting several studios with projects that they needed assistance with. It wasn't until I started filming and editing weddings that I found an enjoyment that I had never experienced with any other project. Being able to create something for couples that held such a high value in their hearts was something that really resonated with me.

Once I reached the point in my career where I felt confident in my ability to handle weddings on my own, I took the next step and started my own wedding cinematography business. As time progressed and I filmed more weddings, my love for this career has continued to grow.

2. How long have you been filming weddings? How many weddings have you filmed?

All together I've been filming and editing weddings for the past 7 years. To date I've filmed over 75 weddings and usually only take on 20-25 weddings per year so I can give my clients the attention they deserve.

3. How would you describe your videography style?

I consider my style of filmmaking moody and cinematic. My main focus on my films is to bring out the love and emotion that is present in the couple's story. Whether it's a segment from their ceremony where the couple is exchanging their vows or a family member giving a personal toast, I love using those kinds of details to tell the couple's story.

When it comes to actually filming the wedding day I like to be as discreet as possible. I aim to be mindful and considerate of my couples and their guests so they can enjoy the wedding day celebration with no interference on my part. By doing this I hope to create an environment where my couples can feel relaxed and not pressured or uncomfortable as I capture all of the special moments. Through this approach, I’m able to record the natural beauty and emotion on a wedding day allowing me to create films that look and feel more authentic.

To help my approach on a wedding day, I prefer to use smaller cameras and equipment to minimize my footprint. No big rigs or gear that can create an eye sore and make the couple or their guests feel uncomfortable. I want the wedding day to unfold naturally so my couples can see what the day and their story truly look like.

4. How well in advance should couples book their wedding videographer?

When it comes to bookings I typically get booked anywhere between 18 months to 6 months in advance. My most popular time of the year is the Fall season, more specifically October, since our temperatures here in the central valley tend to reach triple digits and couples like the cooler weather that comes in the fall.

5. What are the different packages that you offer and which one is your most popular package?

I have 4 different packages that range in coverage and deliverables but for the most part I focus on an a la carte menu system to help my couples get exactly what they're wanting. I love giving my couples flexibility when it comes to structuring their package since everyone has different wants/needs.

Right now my most popular package would probably be the Gold Package (Currently priced at $3250).

6. Are you the wedding videographer who will be filming on the wedding day? How many camera people and cameras will be operating on the day?

I'm always the primary videographer filming and I'm always working with a minimum of 2 cameras. If a couple is wanting a package that comes with more than 1 videographer, then I typically bring an associate.

7. Do you charge a travel fee? For what distance? What does that cover?

Travel fees will range depending on the distance but no travel fee will be charged if the couple's wedding is within 1 hour of Fresno.

8. How do you back-up your footage to ensure no footage is lost and for how long do you keep the footage after the wedding?

After filming a wedding I immediately back up all the footage to a RAID drive, a project drive, and an online cloud based storage system (Dropbox).

Once I've completed the final draft of the couple's video(s) I will typically do one final check in to make sure the couple is satisfied and doesn't have any further requests. After that has been done and the project is considered "finished" the footage will be removed from the drives.

9. How long after the wedding will the couple receive the video? And how will the video be delivered?

I typically try to turn a couple's wedding around within 1-2 months but it will heavily depend on what time of the year it is.
The maximum amount of time in any contract is 6 months.

For delivery I create an online video page that hosts the video(s) that came in the couple's package. From there they can watch, share and download the films.

If a couple should decide to purchase the RAW Footage then a link to dropbox would be created and provided for them to download everything.

10. What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?

Cancellation policies depend on the circumstance.
