1. Introduction: What's your story?
Hi, there! I'm Lauren Sizemore, owner and lead photographer at LEXlense Photography, LLC.! We're a husband and wife photography team that loves all things weddings! Bryan and I, along with our pups Duke & Maizey, call Kentucky home and always will. When we're not behind the lens, you can find us cheering on the University of Kentucky basketball & football teams, hanging out at the St. Louis Cardinals Ballpark, or taking a hike at Red River Gorge. We love adventure and will take any excuse to travel!
For as long as I can remember, I have had a tremendous love for photography and I am thrilled to be able to use my passion to capture so many beautiful moments for my clients. From 2014 to 2017, I attended, and graduated from, Asbury University in Wilmore, KY, with two Bachelors degrees, Media Communications and Journalism. While enrolled at Asbury, I had the incredible opportunity to work at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil. This is where my love for still photography really began. There was something about the way that I could capture the beauty of Brazil and the atmosphere of an Olympic soccer game in a still photo that really stuck with me.
When they say a picture is worth a thousand words, it's true. Ever since I was in the second grade, I dreamt of becoming a television news reporter/anchor. That dream was soon realized for me after graduation from Asbury through a reporting position at Lexington, KY's local ABC affiliate station. Though I decided the lifestyle of a reporter wasn't for me and ultimately ended up leaving the station, I was eager to continue storytelling. To me, each photo I take is a paragraph in someone's story. Each session, whether a wedding, an engagement, or another moment in time, is a chapter in the life of my client. I find something so special in creating tangible memories that hold the stories of those I meet & I'm truly honored, and humbled, to have that opportunity.
2. How long have you been shooting weddings? How many weddings have you photographed?
I started truly shooting weddings in 2019, when LEXlense Photography, LLC. was born. Before then, I shot a couple weddings, but truly just enough to have a portfolio built up before launching my business as it is known today. Since 2019, I have captured about 20 weddings in total.
When booking weddings I limit myself on how many I am willing to take in a year. This is for no other reason than to be able to dedicate more of my time to each of my clients. I like to think of myself as more than just a photographer. I'm more like a photographer/extra bridesmaid/stress reliever/wedding planner and so much more. I love to be fully present for all of my clients through their entire wedding process, booking to even after the big day, not just do the bare minimum and then move on to the next wedding.
3. How would you describe your photography style?
I would say my photography style is vibrant! I don't really fit in with the typical "light and airy" or "dark and moody" descriptive terms. I love for my subjects to pop in each photo and have a true passion for colors that stand out. Muted greens are my FAVORITE and are staple in my photos, mostly in outdoor, grassy locations. I worked for months to customize an editing style that you won't find in another photographer and I am overjoyed with what I have created.
4. How well in advance should couples book their wedding photographer?
Typically, I would suggest booking your wedding photographer a year in advance. Obviously, if you get engaged and are looking to have a quick engagement, more power to you! I am happy to work with anyone, with any booking notice, as long as the date is available. :)
October ALWAYS goes first. I, along with so many others, LOVE a good fall wedding and October is the peak of that EVERY. SINGLE. YEAR. If you're looking to have an October wedding, I would highly suggest snagging all of your favorite vendors as soon as you find them!
5. What are the different packages that you offer and which one is your most popular package?
I offer five different package options for weddings! They range in coverage time from up to 4 hours to up to 10 hours, and each have different inclusions.
All of my packages, their inclusions and pricing, are listed on my website at www.lexlense.com/weddings. My most popular package is my "Simplicity" package! It includes two photographers for up to 10 hours of coverage, digital copies of 500+ professionally edited images in an online gallery, and a print release! It's perfect if you're a bride or groom wanting a full day of coverage without all the extra "stuff" that's included in my "Platinum Wedding" package.
Other things you'll find included in some of my packages are free or discounted engagement sessions, a hardback, custom designed photo book, large wall art, or professional prints!
6. Are you the wedding photographer who will be shooting on the wedding day? Who else is there in your team?
If you book a wedding with one photographer, I, Lauren, will ALWAYS be the one in attendance! If you book a wedding with a second shooter, you're getting my husband, Bryan, along with me! In some cases, depending on his availability with work, you may see a different face by my side. The photography community in Kentucky is incredible! I can guarantee that no matter what, you're getting two true professionals for your wedding day!
7. Do you charge a travel fee? For what distance? What does that cover?
Travel is free up to 80 miles from Lexington, KY! Beyond 80 miles from me, I charge $0.75 per mile each direction. For destination weddings, travel pricing is based on flights to and from, and accommodations at at your destination!
8. Are albums or prints included in your packages?
Some packages include things like professional custom photo books, large wall art or professional prints! It all just depends on which package you're booking!
9. How long after the wedding will the couple receive the images? How will they be delivered?
My turn-around time for all weddings is three weeks, and I guarantee previews of your photos within one week after your wedding!
All digital images are delivered in a private, online, downloadable gallery! You'll receive an email with the link, password and download code, along with all the instructions to save your high quality images!
10. What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?
I require a 20% non-refundable deposit paid at the time of signing a contract for all sessions (weddings, engagements, families, etc.). This retainer is non-refundable under any circumstance, as explained in the contract. The remaining payment isn't due until one week before your wedding date! If you cancel after the remaining payment is paid, you'll get everything back, minus the non-refundable deposit! <3
