10 Questions with Heather Kliss

1. Introduction: What's your story?

Hey there! My name is Heather, and I am a wedding, elopement, engagement, and boudoir photographer. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Digital Photography in 2015 and have been photographing love ever since. I have always known I wanted to be a photographer since I was little. Photographing my first wedding was the push I needed to decide what my photography niche was. I also love photographing family sessions. Capturing love in all forms is what makes my heart happy. Boudoir photography is my newest hobby. I have a few sessions under my belt so far. If you are interested, I can share a couple of galleries with you.

2. How long have you been shooting weddings? How many weddings have you photographed?

I have been photographing weddings since 2013. In my first couple of years, I assisted other photographers. Then I transitioned to photographing them with my own photography business. I have 30-40 weddings and elopements under my belt so far, and the number keeps going up! I photograph 90% of my weddings with a second photographer to ensure all of your magical moments are captured.

3. How would you describe your photography style?

I would describe my photography style as photojournalist. I love being the fly on the wall. With this tactic, I can capture pure emotional photos. Plus all the candids your heart desires. Don't get me wrong though, during the portrait sessions I am all over it! Hyping you up, making sure you feel comfortable and have a wonderful time having your photos taken.

4. How well in advance should couples book their wedding photographer?

I think you should start looking for your dream photographer as soon as you get engaged. Your photographer is the only person that will be at your side from getting ready to the last farewell. Connecting with them on a personal level is very important. If you have a long engagement, I would suggest a year to a year and a half before your wedding. That is not always the case. I have booked a wedding a month before their date before. So, whenever you find the photographer you connect with is solely up to you.

5. What are the different packages that you offer and which one is your most popular package?

At the moment, I offer three packages; Elopement, Deluxe, and Ultimate.
The elopement package is one photographer for 4 hours.
The deluxe package is two photographers for 6 hours.
Lastly, the ultimate package is two photographers for 8 hours.
My most popular package is my deluxe packages for 6 hours.

6. Are you the wedding photographer who will be shooting on the wedding day? Who else is there in your team?

I am the photographer that will be there on your wedding day. If your package includes a second photographer, it will most likely be my husband photographing with me. I have trained him in my style, and he has been assisting me for years.

7. Do you charge a travel fee? For what distance? What does that cover?

For all weddings that exceed 50 miles from my home base in Orange, I charge the federal going rate to all my clients (so this year = 54.5 cents/mile).

If you would like to fly me out to your location for your wedding, those costs very.

8. Are albums or prints included in your packages?

If you would like a package that includes a wedding album and prints, that will be my Ultimate package. The two packages that include an engagement session do receive a guestbook for your wedding day. You can also add a wedding album or photography prints to any packages.

9. How long after the wedding will the couple receive the images? How will they be delivered?

Within a week of your wedding, you will receive 10-20 photo highlights from your day. You will get the rest of your wedding images up to a month after your wedding date. You will receive 75-100 edited images per hour I am photographing. I DO NOT give out RAW images.

10. What is your cancellation and/or refund policy?

My cancellation and/or refund policy is

Cancellation: If for any reason Client cancels this contract before the wedding date, Photographer will keep the retainer. If Client fails to supply cancellation as specified before the wedding date or cancels within 30 days of the wedding date, Client shall be required to pay the full balance due.

Reschedule: In the event that Client reschedules the wedding and Photographer can rebook the original wedding date, Client will receive credit for all monies already paid. A new contract may be required. The new package price will reflect pricing in effect when the date change occurs. In the event that Client reschedules the wedding and Photographer is not able to rebook the original wedding date, Client forfeits the retainer but will receive a credit for all other monies paid. Credit may be applied to wedding coverage within one year of original date provided Photographer is available.
