10 Questions with Sarah Leitten And Kate Prince

1. Introduction: What's your story?

Who we are: Two girls (an Aussie and an American) taking advantage of an unexpected opportunity to bring beauty and artistry, transform moods, translate and create design visions and set the scene, the space, the vibe, through flowers. We love the earth and are determined to protect it to the best of our ability. We support sustainability, buying locally where possible, reusing and recycling when we can, and limiting our waste as much as possible. We design foam-free as much as we can and repurpose arrangements post events passing them on to people who need a little something to brighten their day.

Our style: is loose, organic, garden-style - natural with a touch of wild. We love nature. We love color. We love art. We love creating beautiful pieces and in addition to fresh flowers, we love to incorporate foliage, dried flowers/ seeds, and other botanical forms available.

What we can do: While we definitely have an in-house Flora style, we are talented florists who can translate your vision into reality. If you don’t have a style or a vision, we can help you work this out. If we haven’t done it before, don’t let that scare you off. We are innovative and creative problem solvers with a great team, great resources, an incredible eye and a can-do attitude. We thrive on a challenge, it’s how we got here and our work speaks for itself.

How we work: Relationships are important to us. Expect honesty, frankness, reliability, collaboration, attention to detail, artistry, and to be blown away by the end product. We love what we do and our enjoyment and love of every step are evident in our work.

Our Story: Flora is co-owned by Sarah Leitten and Kate Prince who met while working at Flora and bought the business in March 2018. Sarah was born and raised in Buffalo, NY, and graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Art with a BFA in sculpture in 2009. Sarah has worked in the floral industry for over 10 years and spends her free time drawing comics and working on art projects. Kate was born and raised in Sydney, Australia, and has over 15 years of horticultural and landscaping experience. Kate has lived and traveled all over the world.
